There have been a few things I am putting together which for the time being will remain nothing more than guidelines which means no action will be taken against you for breaking these rules (yet).
Having said that, I would be pretty pissed off if people break these rules, especially if they do it again and again.
If anyone has any suggestions to add to this then please do.
I will suggest these get added to our clubs constitution at our AGM next year.
SWEARINGSwearing is not something that should happen when we are in a group, especially at the gym and at events. I'd even go as far to say when we're just chilling in the bay that we should make a big effort to not swear.
This is going to be a big deal, especially to people like me who swear a lot but I know of at least one occasion where we have lost a member because of all the swearing the mother heard.
The only time in the gym where we might bend the rules for swearing is when it is directly from the bocking such as when you fail an attempted move.
ARRIVAL AND WARM UPAlthough its new, the warm up is a very important part of the gym session and I cant believe we didnt start this ages ago.
The warm up will start 10 minutes into the session. This gives everyone time to arrive and pay for their session and allows 10 minutes for any late comers.
It is your responsibility to arrive on time. If you are later than 10 mins then you will have to do the warm up on your own. If you rush through it, you'll be asked to leave the session.
MESSING ABOUTThe general behaviour at the gym needs to be improved. There is to be no messing around on the crash mats, including sliding around on them.
We dont want to take out the fun element of the gym sessions but people cannot just start messing around. If something is fun then suggest we all do it (such as the blindfold)
PEOPLE AT THE HALLIf there is someone in the hall who we do not know and it is not obvious why they are there or what they are doing then we need to ask them and if needed, explain to them they need to leave the area. This needs to be done by everyone. Dont ignore it and leave it for someone else. If its a new bocker, then just introduce yourself and say hi
SAFETYPreviously at gym sessions I have asked for the music to be turned down. The only reason for this is safety. If there is ever an incident that can be prevented by someone shouting STOP or something similar then the volume of the music needs to be at a low enough level that everyone can hear and to actually stop, not for them to think "what was that" and to continue with a potentially dangerous situation.
Also if you EVER spot something that could cause any sort of risk then do something about it immediately. Dont wait until me, jeeves and jono are able to do something about it. Tell someone right away and if need be stop any activity until we can deal with the problem.
An example would be spilt drink on the floor or crash mats on a wall where people are frequently over-rotating and nearly headbutting the wall.
If you dont speak up, someone could get hurt.
-----------------------
Obviously the swearing one is the one which is going to crop up most frequently.
I would call on all members to challenge any unnessecary swearing made by others in the group (including me and parents etc who may not be bocking)
If anyone doesnt understand any of these rules then please see either myself, Jono or Jeeves as its a lot quicker to explain in person.
