Any good? I weigh about 8 stone at the moment, and I saw these. I wanted to run the idea past some pros before I purchased my first pair. I liked them because of the double straps at the knee, as on my taster session we couldnt get my straps tight enough >.<

If these arent great, can someone advise me on a good pair? I think I have about £150 to play with, price wise.

EDIT: Sorry for the extra post, I just thought that everyone would be more interested in this than a newbie welcome post, wanted some more opinions on it >.< Sorry again.

So you're about 50kg, and 17. How tall are you?
I'd advise seriously staying away from the junior pairs (they're half the size of the ones you tried, and won't kick out hardly any air as the springs are much smaller). Most people here started out on ProJumps though, before progressing to 7Leagues, so they're a pretty good brand.

I'd advise you take a look at these, which are probably the best set-up you can get on ProJump stilts:

If you don't want to spend that much, you can always get the basic model:

Is the first one worth the extra £35?... In your opinion at least.

It works out cheaper than buying PJs and then cuffs and upgraded bindings (cuffs are £40, bindings £20, but you can get a package for £50), definately. I think everyone here will recommend the upgraded bindings, calf cuffs are more personal choice, personally I find them a hell of a lot more comfortable and secure, but other people prefer kneebars.

Hmm... In that case I'll probably buy the £170 ones, the calf strap is worth its weight in gold >.< Thanks for the help.

Grin Heh heh, I ken what FLT and FTW mean thanks mate. (Ken means 'know' Wink )

So EVO's are a clip or binding of some kind? The lesser version being further down the scale of epicness?

Basically, EVO-1 and EVO-2 are a type of footplate binding 7Leagues started selling as an additional part a few years back. They're basic stock snowboard bindings, but a hell of a lot more comfy than the ones that come on bocks. Everyone soon jumped on the bandwagon, EVO-2 now come as default on the Poweriser 2007/2008/Advanced models, the new 7League 2009 models, and are also sold as "ProJump Pro Bindings" as an additional PJ item.

EVO1 use a metal ratchet that locks into the other plastic toothed section of binding (Default PJ ratchets are plastic). The problem with this is the metal ratchet chews up the plastic section and generally wrecks your bindings, as you're strapped in pretty tight and the constant up-down motion produces a lot of wear-and-tear (remember, these are designed for snowboarding, not bocking).

EVO2, on the other hand, replace the metal ratchet with a heavy-duty plastic one, which doesn't chew up the toothed section and lasts a hell of a lot longer. They're also generally nicer looking and the ratchet undoes easier.

Both require a little mod with some larger washers to make them last longer (there's been some problems with the way they're mounted on the footplate causes the small washer on them to slowly cut through the plastic, and eventually the bindings snap - larger washers fix this by not digging in and spreading the force). I'll ask Naz as to why EVO1's are on the PJ+ models.

That do, Matt? Tongue

Ah, I ken, so basically the EVO 2's use plastic which isnt as harmful to the straps. Simples! *makes the noise that Alexander Meerkat makes that I cant really imitate to save my life* I thought I had heard the name somewhere when I was talking about boards with a mate >.<

How long will the EVO 1 straps last?

No that wont do sprog lol.

Basically everyone i know who has had the Evo1 bindings has had the metal clip snap off making it near impossible to get the bindings off. It's a total bitch.
I'll get some pics of one thats snapped in a moment while jake is here.
Evo2's never snap (so far)

Sounds like what happens with snowboard bindings, the lever arm just gives way one day... Sucks quite a bit when it happens. Isnt there a quick release catch as well? I've never heard of that coming off on a board rig, but then again, you dont jump up and down much on a board X3
