Cardiff Gym Session
« on: May 05, 2010, 15:14:04 »

I've been in touch with Fairwater Leisure Centre again recently. Some of you may remember we had meetings with them last year to see if we could move there from Channel View but they couldnt fit us in for any block bookings.

The good news is, we can book gym sessions there as and when we would like them, as long as the courts are available.

So we have a Gym session booked there for THIS SUNDAY for 2 hours. We have 2 badminton courts so it will be the same size as Penarth ( a little bigger than what we had at channel view) see pics below.

Fairwater Leisure Centre, Waterhall Road, Cardiff, CF5 3LL (train station is a 10-15 min walk away) Map here

This Sunday, May 9th 2010 - 11.30am until 1.30pm

Cost: £5 each (this session is not part of the buy 3 get 1 free scheme)

Unfortunately we will not be able to have any members of the public at this session.
If it's good and we like it there, we can book it again in the future.

It's Fairwater station. Although Danescourt appears closer, if you are walking from danescourt its on a main road with little or no pavement. The walk from Fairwater station is much easier I think.
If you look on the map and zoom out a little, google sticks an old british rail logo where the stations are and Fairwater is to the south east of the leisure centre.

I would also agree it was a great session. I think Fairwater is going to be a good place for us. Those 2 red blocks (we only had 1 out) are going to be put to a lot of use in the future. I love the gym mats, they are thick and heavy which means they dont slide around and they seem to have a lot of crash mats for us. The only bad points I can think of is that if the curtain is pulled across or there is something in the other half of the hall then we will obviously have to stick to our half which is limited in space. They also have a new trampet in the store room. It's too early for us to ask about that yet, I'd rather wait until we know a few members of staff and have a good working relationship with them. There is also the health and safety aspects of using the trampet but maybe they can help or advise with that.

I'm not sure when the next session will be yet, probably in a couple of weeks but I expect we'll move it to a Saturday in the future as there are more trains and buses available than on a sunday.
