Swansea gym restart discussion!
« on: March 24, 2010, 21:21:49 »

Right guys

It has been quite some time since we have had our last Gym Session  Embarrassed

I have decide that we are not going to book our normal 10 week slot until we know for sure that we have sufficient numbers to cover the costs (nearly every week). But what we will be doing is having a session when we feel like it basically (organized a few weeks in advance of course)

If you could state here what date you would like to possible start back on our first gym back, what time etc. This is for me to get clear numbers to see that we will be able to afford the gym and to see if it's worth it.

I am easy with what ever so feel free to state what's best for you  Wink :

Maybe it would be better if we got a gym closer to town as then we could catch the bus to the gym and that would make lifts a lot simpler.

Hey Neil and welcome to the forum

The best tip for you I suppose would be to wear safety equipment from the start to save your self from uneccesary injuries. Falling from running can hurt quite bad without the safety equipment.

You could spend a couple of pounds on wrist guards, but these don't offer as much protection as the quality deteriorates quite fast and the plastic guards tend to slip out quite ease. You could on the other hand spend up to £30 on a pair that could be the same type of quality. I'm not really a big fan of wrist guards (but i should be wearing them) so I wouldn't be able to help you much there but any pair would be better than no pair I say. Cheesy

As for running, it can be very hard and i guess you will have to spend a lot of time on your stilts if you would want to run far on them. Running on stilts can be quite hard( I could never run as far on stilts as I do on foot).

But with practice and enough fitness training you should be able to train yourself into running as far as you would find comfortable. Grin

Hope I helped a bit, I can talk on about random things as time but I guess you'll get use to it Tongue

Lol ty for the confidence booster ! rofl TBH lLockey warned me running on bocks like 3x harder than on foot so im kinda prepared for it. Already thinkin up some possible mods to make it work for me - im a natural tinkerer so maybe il figure something gd for myself Tongue But im in no rush atm taking 1 step at a time - im soo unfit atm that i dont really have much choice lol smoking and many other bad habbits gonna have to go ...

And ty for the heads up on wrist guards. Il happily spend like 40 or so quid on a damn gd pair as i want to look after my wrist since i had surgery on it - so for me are most important equip to splash out on.

Gonna go order my bocks now, im actually quite excited Cheesy soo hopefully il meet some of you guys in RL before long ! ciao for now

we're going off topic here but I'm sure the swansea crew can discuss their gym ideas without this causing any trouble.

Neil, I went to a skate shop in cardiff 3 years ago and asked for their most expensive pair of wrist guards. The salesdude was a little shocked and started asking questions. £35 they cost me and I still use them today. They are similar to the ones below.
I like them because they give really good wrist support and also a bit to the thumb joint which most other guards dont. Some people dont like them because they are like gloves though.

well at the minute, I have no idea lol Grin

Looking at this thread we have about 5 top 6 interested. As we won't be booking in our usual 10 week block this means the price of the gym is going to be about £42 for the 2 hours.

I think most people would want to but after their exams, but these finish in late June lol....I don't think we want to wait that long Cheesy so I guess we will just have to pa a bit more each to cover the cost.
