Capital Bocking is the original bocking event, celebrating bocking all over the world.
How it all started
Capital Bocking was the idea of an online community of bockers who thought having a national meet up would be great not only for themselves but to raise awareness of the sport, while entertaining the public at the same time.
On a slightly damp Sunday morning in 2007 they slowly grouped together at Hyde Park before setting off to visit a few of Londons biggest landmarks. The day was a resounding success and it was quickly decided would be an annual event.
and it kept going...
For 2008 the location was changed to Cardiff so that many bockers could come and experience the Oval Basin, much loved by all the bockers that had visited Cardiff already. Over 120 people were present including 3 who travelled from the USA.
In 2009 the big day returned to London, a little light on numbers due to the late organising but once again the bockers did a nice tour of London entertaining the crowds on their travels.
For 2010 things are changing.
Commercial Funding
If Capital Bocking is going to return to Cardiff in August 2010 it is going to have commercial sponsorship and hopefully commercial funding which will help provide us to turn the whole event into a mini-festival, though keeping it focused on the bockers. This should include:
- An indoor arena with a specially designed training course for the bockers.
- A spacious area for members of the public to try bocking.
- The Oval Basin for freestyle bocking and to include invited Commercial vendors.
