Capital bocking 2009

Capital Bocking 2009 was held in London, where the original 2007 meet took place. It also started at Speaker's Corner, in Hyde Park, just like before. Organisation was a group effort, split between Bexx, DarfGarf, Sprog and pretty much all of those in attendance, who each took over during the day with suggestions of places to visit or directions to help others. Whilst attendance was down from previous years, effort was made across the country to attend, with people ranging from locals to others from Birmingham and the South Coast. SignalPad from the USA even ventured across the Atlantic again to visit, having enjoyed CB08 in Cardiff. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves, getting to visiting Bockingham Palace, Trafalgar Square and the South Bank, where attention was turned from the tourist attractions to the bockers, as crowds gathered to watch and take in the sight of a bunch of nutters on spring-loaded stilts. Although spread across a weekend, the majority of attendance was on the Saturday, and the consensus was that it was a day well spent, certainly not on the scale or scope of previous capital bocking events, but just as much fun, with a good mix of both new bockers and more experienced members of the community, allowing everyone to improve their bocking, learn something new, and make new friends.

This is harder than it looks!

So I have once again it seems foolishly volunteered to organise CB for next year. Well maybe. Lets see how it goes first of all and see what peoples reactions are to my vision.

Taking things further

My plan for CB, and my condition if I'm leading the organisation is to move CB away from just being a large meet and actually have it a proper coordinated event and to see if we can get some financial backing and/or sponsorship to offer an indoor bocking area providing the exact sort of facilities that we would want.
